Introduction: Making films in the 21st century.

Probably quite different from what people where expecting 50 years ago.

Film-making has been democratised in many aspect. Creation and consumption of media content is so different from even 5 years ago that we can easily say that we are in a new era of film-making. The Technic is simplified the distribution is immediate and simple so that everyone and anyone can make films and/or enjoy them. What set aside a film-maker from another one is now purely his creativity. Aware of that, I will cover in this workshop the basic skills and knowledge needed to kick start anyone's desire to start an artistic, independent, film-making "career".

My name is Pablo Melchor and I will be hosting this talk about film making on a shoestring. I am french, London based film-maker and artist with an opensource mind set, co-organiser of WE ARE FILM CLUB (wearefilmclub.com) where skill share, creativity and DIY film making go hand in hand.

Previous comments about this talk include - 'This is better than the BBC workshop' and 'I've learned more in one session than in a year of Film Studies' for his workshops. An absolute must for the guerrilla film making, and for all people who want to get their message out to a wider audience. You can check some of his work here on www.kinopablo.com
